radiator capacity?

How much coolant does the stock LB9 V8 radiator alone hold? Not the whole system, just the radiator. Thanks!

How Much Beer Can My Radiator Hold ?

Not a question most people would need to know.

Most people take into consideration total system capacity, then add anti-freeze to suit their needs.

Filling up the rad with water and measuring the water might be the only way you’ll find out.

Happy Racing!

What is the total system capacity? Just so I now how much Distilled water to buy & how much antifreeze to add. Kinda need to know system capacity before actually figuring everything out accurately.

My owner's manual says 17 quarts for the 305 TBI. I'm finishing up a 383 install on the same car and when I filled it up, it was more like 15, slightly under 4 gallons.

Thanks. I use the GM Service Manual & all it says it (in a nutshell) "Add water & the appropriate amount of coolant" No specific amounts/quantities of either nor capacity. You'd think it would at least give you the system capacity so that you'd have an idea of what ratio 1 gallon of antifreeze would give you.

I'm gonna flush my system next week & wanted to get everything beforehand.
