ac deleted, fan always on now
ac deleted, fan always on now
I recently rmoved all of my ac components, and now the raditor fan is on whenever the car runs.
I have replaced the fan relay, coolant temp sensor, and coolant fan switch.
I believe Ive read somewhere that with the ac on, the rad fan comes on.
so i think theecm thinks the ac is on for some reason.
any ideas how to get the fan to work properly again?

Welcome to TGO!
Is your selector set to any of the A/C functions? Like defrost maybe? If it's on Max, Normal, Bilevel, or Defrost that will make the fan run as those are all A/C settings.

Maybe bad fan switch, located pass head between #6 & #8 spark plug. When the temp reaches, the switch grounds that wire which grounds the relay - maybe the wire is getting grounded somewhere.

What year? Some years (86 & 87) TPI have a blue wire on the pass side near the lower motor. If that is grounded the fan will always be on. It should be tucked away in the harness.

the car is an 88, v6 2.8 mpfi
its a brand new fan switch, and brand new fan relay.
when i unplug the switch, fan is still on, same with when i unplug the relay.
tested the green wire going to the fan switch with a voltmeter.
it does not have continuity with ground (neg on my bATTERY)
it is continus with hot (plus side of battery)
when i test the voltage on the wire, it shows zero when i go to ground, ands shows the battery voltage when i go to hot.(black test lead on green switch wire, red lead onto postive battery terminal)
so the voltage test tells me the wire is grounded. but the continuity test shows that its not grounded.(it should have continuity with ground)
am i missing something here?
