mechanical fan to dual fan question
i have an 87 iroc with a 350 that came out of a 69 camaro. my current set up is a mechanical fan (no fan shroud, cant find one) with a single aftermarket fan mounted on the opposite side of the radiator because without it the car over heats way to quick. it still overheats even with the electric fan but only if its hot outiside. Im pretty sure i need a new radiator the one thats in it looks kinda small. But im thinking im goin to swith to dual electric fans with a fan controller, now my question is what brand would be good to buy and where to get them. also if anybody knows a good radiator would be apreciated. thnx

If you still need a dual fan setup, I have one from a 97 Z28. I replaced the primary fan motor in it with a new unit. It fits a stock 3rd gen radiator pretty well. You would need to fab your own brackets for it tho. I'd take $125 plus shipping for it. Let me know.

Re: mechanical fan to dual fan question
I run a Griffin universal aluminum radiator with 4th gen dual fans from a Z-28 or Trans-Am and use a Flexalite fan controller that is a great setup and will make it all work with issues. My 406 runs cool all day long with this setup. I had to some modifying, but not much to make it all come together and it was well worth it. I tried what you are doing with my old 355, the mechanical fan with a single pusher in front, didn't work all that well and the car would still get hot sitting in traffic. My current setup will cool my 406 in traffic with no problems. Make sure you keep your air dam, that is under the car on, or you will never get it to run cool. Been down all the overheating roads with this car in the years since buying it back in 1984.

the griffin universal aluminum radiator...where did u get it from and does the tranny lines screw in or did u have to make it work? ya i still got the air damn ive heard of overheatin problems without so its still under the car. never thought bout using 4th gen fans ill look into it and the flexalite fan controller i am deffinently getting it ive heard a lot of good things bout that one. i was thinking just buyin new 3rd gen dual fans and using a flexalite fan controller but ill look into the 4th gen fans but again where did u get ur radiator from..mines alright but its a lil dirty and bunch of fins are messed up on it.

Like I said before, with a little engineering to put it all together, you can use the items I used and have great cooling system without a really high cost.
