Do i got a bad fan switch???
So i recently bought a new fan switch for my bird and when my mechanic replaced it for my old one it didnt respond as well as my old one. Here's the story. When i fixed my bird before sending it to the mechanic i had a good working fan switch. It turned on my fan at about 235ish (temp), it worked well and kept my motor cool. Well my dad didn't trust a 10 year sitting motor so we decided to get it cleaned and replaced any bad parts. so my mechanic bought all these new shiny parts blah blah blah. When i went to go check on the car we tested to see if the fan turned on properly so i could bring her home. We kept our eye on the gauge and waited. 220 passed then 230, then 240 and we cooled it down at about 245. We didn't want the motor to overheat. we tried again and same thing, we didn't want to go over 245 because we didn't want it to overheat. so i wanna know if i have a crappy fan switch that isnt turning my fan on when its supposed to or is my problem elsewhere? i replaced the relay and have a brand new motor on the fan also.
thanks for the help guys -Aaron

Re: Do i got a bad fan switch???
Take the connector for the fan switch, remove it, insert a wire into it, and ground that wire somewhere while key is on - fan should run. If it does, then quite possible for switch to be bad again already (they are junk). If it doesn't, then might be bad relay or connection at relay.
Do yourself a favor - buy an aftermarket seperate fan controller and be done with that factory crap setup.

Re: Do i got a bad fan switch???
yea we did that and the fan runs as it should when we turn the key. ive had the thought of doing the switch thing but if i had a perfectly running fan a month ago and now replacing with new parts isnt working properly id rather try to find the problem so i can have the car running the right way. is there a possible way the fan switch is a higher temperature one than the original one? like i got one closer to the overheating rate then the running temp rate?
