cooling fan issue....need help!!
This is on a 92 5.0L TPI
so for a little back round my cooling fans were working the way they are supposed to, now niether work. so i did all the checks with the exception of what i needed a multi meter for because i didn't have it on me.
both relays click on and off, fans dont come on. checked the fusible link by the battery, thats good. grounded the harness for the secondary fan switch, the one on the passenger side head, relay clicks, fan doesn't move. both fans work if you hot wire them to the battery, so the fan motors are good.
hooked up a code reader with data stream and the CTS is reading correctly and the ECM is sending a fan on signal, again relay clicks fan doesn't move
so the problem is oviously between the two relays and the fans. Question is, is there a fusible link or links between the two relays and the fans? if there is does anyone know where they are located? if there isn't im going to have to tear into the harness and i hate doing that. its just odd that both fans are not working at the same time and they both worked just a couple days ago.
any help is much appreciated

Just because the relay clicks doesn't mean it's working. The relay changes battery power from an unused terminal to the terminal connected to the fan + wire. Have you removed the relays and looked for burned marks on them or connector?

They do not
yes, plugs and relays look good...no power at fans but power at relays
Re: cooling fan issue....need help!!
you can always spend the $30 something bucks (amazon.com) and get a Hayden fan switch with integrated relay for the A/C
you can then adjust the fan on temp as well
then, you will only need an DC source, an ignition-on based source (air pump is a good one) a ground and to splice into the A/C clutch
that switch then delivers the power to the fans so you snip the other power connector and wire in the new source
you can keep driving yourself nuts or slap in a hayden and be able to also adjust when you want the fans to engage
2 birds with 1 stone
good luck

Re: cooling fan issue....need help!!
put my multi meter on it, the wire between the battery and the relays went bad. was only putting out 6 volts at the relays, which isn't enough to run the fans, so i am going to replace that wire with another and that should do the trick
