radiator fan squeaking

Ok so I know theres already some threads on this, but I haven't found any definitive solutions.

I have an '87 Camaro 305 and one of my radiator fans makes a terrible squeaking sound when it turns on. Some people said that the fan motor needs to be replaced, some said the blower motor. I really dont want to just buy one and test it. Any ideas?

Re: radiator fan squeaking

sounds like the fan motor's rear bearing(actually a
bushing) is dry of oil-you can replace the motor with a
new one or remove the fan motor from the car, drill a
tiny hole in the rear bearing nub and add a little oil.
you could also take the motor apart to add oil to the
rear bushing-the front bearing is a ball bearing, don't
oil that -they use grease.
Sometimes the motor brushes will squeak some too.
If the motor roars the front ball bearing is bad.
