Not Getting Heat
1992 Pontiac Firebird GTA, no heat coming out at any heater setting, but AC works fine. Previous owner was in Florida. Any ideas on what I should check first before thinking about replacement parts?
I know very little about this stuff, so please be patient with me if I ask any dumb questions.

Re: Not Getting Heat
First thing to check is if the heather core has been bypassed. There are two hoses on the passenger side that run to the firewall near the heater box, make sure they make it.

Once you verify the hoses are there, what does your temp gauge read? Does the car ever "warm up"?

Re: Not Getting Heat
If you mean 'warm up' by the temp gauge on the dashboard going up? Yes, it goes to just before the 220 mark. It's the heater part of the A/C system that isn't working. No matter what temperature I set the slider to, it's always cold.

Re: Not Getting Heat
Turn the car on and put it on heat, take the radiator cap off and see if any coolant is coming from the hose that goes to the firewall, I've seen some people just shove a wooden dowel into the hose to stop it. Also the a/c is for cold, not heat. Heater and a/c are 2 different components.
