Help with cooling fan switch/sensor...
I got this 86 trans am with a 305, holley intake and carb. It's an obvious PO job, butchered wiring everywhere, and i am tired of having the fan on all the time. I found the switch/sender on the passenger side of the engine, and noticed it has only one blade hookup. So my question is, what color wire goes to it? And I hope and pray it will kick on my fan when needed. Oh and one more question. There is something attached to the very back of the intake, it seems to be related to coolant, it has a two blade hookup which is attached to another doohickey with a single blade hookup. I have no clue to what this is. Thank you for any help on these matters.

On my 1986 Camaro, the factory single cooling fan sender is a two wire clip with a black wire and a black with a red striped wire. Regarding the doohickey, can you post a photo so we can see what you're talking about?

Re: Help with cooling fan switch/sensor...
The fan switch wire should be green with a white stripe. It may be grounded somewhere causing the fan to be always on with the key on, or they may have intercepted it over at the fan relay by the brake booster. Probably grounded the wire due to failure of the fan switch, but hard to say. Try tracing it from the fan relay. Fan relay is the one with 4 wires going to it. Red or orange for positive lead, black with red stripe for positive to the fan, skinny brown or gray is switched 12 volt and green with white stripe grounds out the relay
