91 Camero RS Overheating
91 Camero RS Overheating
My RS is over heating big time. The temp gauge is broken and dosn't register anything at all but will 'reset' itself upon starting. It only over heats while idling or at lower speeds. I've been leaving my heater on to keep it from over heating too much while I'm driving.
The temp sensor has been replaced and I took it to a dealer who said it was the EMC. Everything I find on EMC's doesn't help me much. Can someone tell me what the possibilities could be for the car over heating and where I can get a new EMC for the cooling fan?

Camaro. ECM. You might consider a search as there aren't many questions that haven't been asked and answered here on TGO. To start with the simple: Is the fan (fan's) coming on? Is the lower air dam in place?
Best of luck with your project.

Re: 91 Camero RS Overheating
Possibilities: too much crap (oil, dirt, etc.) on the side of the block, thermostat, clogged hose(s)/raditator, water pump, fans, no air dam, bad head gasket. There are actually 2 temp sensors, one is in the plenum and the other is on the underside of the block right above the starter. I believe the temp sensor is in the plenum and the fan switch is above the starter. Getting hot at low speeds and idle isn't giving much of an idea as to what the problem is, have you noticed anything else?
