Re: 91 RS Overheating help?

Before anyone helps, the fan runs all the time, it runs when my ignition is on. On my temp gauge there are 5 lashes, the first being the coldest 5th being the hottest and the 3rd is the mid(where it should be) it stays a tad below or above the 4th lash (which is bad)

Check the fluid level in the radiator, add as needed.
Fill recovery // over flow to the cold level.
If all is good there, IDK.

Re: 91 RS Overheating help?

Troubleshooting Order for overheating (in order of cheapest/least effort/likelihood):

Inspect coolant level/ check for leaks - repair leak and fill (also check oil for milky texture indicating bad head gasket)
Check Fan Function- Make sure a/c is off.
Inspect Air Dam/fan shrouds- You'll run hot without these
Inspect Hoses- check for leaks, collapse during operation, etc.- replace as necessary
Inspect Radiator- replace if badly corroded, bent or leaking
Thermostat- replace and Fill Coolant
Radiator Cap- If it's old just replace it. You'll overheat with a bad one.
Water Pump- Replace, Fill coolant

If you go through that list and you're still overheating, you either have a serious or complicated problem or a defective new part. More serious problems include a bad head or head gasket or lean running condition.

That's just a reference list for anyone having an overheating problem. Just thought I'd try to sum up cooling troubleshooting in a nutshell.

You're not leaking coolant from anywhere?
