Engine bay heat
Ok so I have a 88 camaro that i took the fuel injection and computer out and put a carb headers cam intake exc.. The headers are the hooker 2460s. My concern is the engine compartment is crazy hot high engine temp just to hot but everything is working fan and water pump everything is normal. Whats the best way to cool the engine compartment so it can run efficient. I have a vented iroc hood but the vents are non functional. So what are my options header tape? Engine ice? Help!!!

Re: Engine bay heat
In 86 I had a factory order LB9 TPI and after some issues built a Super Gorilla 406 carb headers...stock rad. I opened up the hood by spacing up the louvers 1/2" and cutting out the hood in the shape that is already there to allow some outflow of hot air. Also removed the fog lights for a small gain....Stock rad. Cooled 10x better than my stock 1965 Vette 396/425 HP with a 3 row rad.

Re: Engine bay heat
I had my shorty headers ceramic coated, and then I added the wrapping
w/ copper impregnated insulating wrap. I haven't actually driven the
car, but let it set idling for a long time, and engine comp. temp remained
very low.
(Installation of the wrap will be greatly enhanced with stainless steel
ty-wraps available in the electric supplies dept. of H-D & Lowes.
