Swapping my Thermostat Housing?

Alright so my hosing is leacking some coolant and from the looks of it it looks like the gasket but I was wondering if I could possibly replace the housing as well with one of the nice looking ones. In other words the ones that dont have the spot for the temp coolant sensor. Do I absolutely need to have that sensor..?How do I know if its even working on my car...?thanks!

The coolant temp sensor you do need. It tells the ecu how hot the engine is so it can adjust fuel trims accordingly. I had a bad cts and it felt like my car was going to fall apart when its hot. Ran rough and dropped about 6mpg.keep it just get a new housing and spray paint it with high temp paint imo
