Re: camaro overheating

I pulled the thermostat completely out, it still over heats, but takes a lot longer, the timing was really , really advanced, so i tried retarding it to the point of dying (everywhere in between and it still over heats. Although it was retarded considerably i seem to have more power.

Re: camaro overheating

I'd focus on tuning the engine before chasing down over temps. Didn't that come up somewhere before?

The temp that causes the system to boil over (providing the system maintains adequate pressure).

let me rephrase

what is the current temperature this camaro is reading, that is making the OP believe it is overheating if it is not boiling any more

my RS use to run anywhere between 200 and 235(actual temp, gauge would read near red) depending on how hot it was outside, but it wasn't overheating

Re: camaro overheating

Head gaskets are blown, took it apart, also looks like my dumb *** ex step dad put the wrong gaskets on, it appears 2 water jets were blocked on each side by the gasket. I had him do that part because I didnt have the time (he is a mechanic) but obviously not a good one. I am having troubles finding the head gaskets I should be using tho, I have Edelbrock Performer RPM Heads, model is 6037, I guess at some point they added a 9 to the end from what i can tell so, 60739

Re: camaro overheating

Ok I think I know which one it is. The one on the left is the one the idiot put on, and the one on the right is the one that was on before the rebuild. I'm glad i kept them.
