If you have the ability to fabricate and prefer a single fan, I would use a Derale 18217 and make a fan shroud that fits the whole core. I would not mount it with the plastic push through pieces that it comes with that go through the radiator core. If you want a dual fan and can fabricate, I just got done putting a 12" and a 14" fan on my car, also Derales #18212 & 18214 respectively. You would need to be able to wire them appropriately and figure how you want them to signal on. There also seem to be a number of guys on here that are using the 4th gen pair set up with some minor modifications to install. A lot of possibilities. I would not run a cheap fan typically found at the parts store. Most do not move even close to enough air for a primary cooling fan. May want to search some more of the threads already on here about electric fans to help you decide. A lot depends on your abilities and what tools or equipment you have access to. Also depends on your engine whether stock, modified or highly modified on what you can get away with.

just picked up a hayden fan 3710, 8 blade 16" in diameter and 1500 cfms and was thinking about doing some fabrication because like you said the zip ties wouldnt be good enough. would i need to get a new alternator now? is fabricating a shroud something difficult to do if you have no experience of fabricating?
and how did the fabrication go on your car?

You shouldn't need a new alternator.if you have power windows locks etc you should have the 120 amp alternator ( I think that's right). I run dual 10 in Hayden's on the front of mine as pushers with the factory fan. Just don't waste your time and money buying a Hayden controller they do not last. Good luck on the install

I would not use Hayden fans!!! Not for primary cooling. They do not move enough air! They are fine for assist but not for primary on a v8. If one fan and engine stock, use Derale 18217 17" fan pulling 23 amps and will work with your oem relay and wiring. It is a 2 spd fan so for high only, combine gray and tan wires to positive and black to ground. I repeat, you will not move enough air with one Hayden electric fan. The numbers are not there. You will not need a bigger alternator as long as you don't have a ton of aftermarket stereo or something of that nature.

Do you have a single fan or dual fan set up?
Do the fan(s) come on when you turn on the AC?
Is your airdam in tact?
