Thermostat housing /sigh lol TPI 305

So earlier today I began what I thought to be a cut and dry job, I have worked on cars for a while now and figured cakewalk, and then I popped the hood...... Now lets go back to the the beginning, For Christmas I got a 1988 Iroq z28 I know right everyone is like damn, ya so was I best gift I ever got point blank. After pulling the dash apart to take a look at the frozen gauge I realized hey go figure gm screwed the pouch and the needle pops out the gauge and sticks in the way past over heating omg im screwed position. needless to say I used some ******* engineering and fixed that issue, meh pretty simple no biggie. the car had not been driven in over 5 years so I bought all the right goodies for a tune up. After doing a basic tune up I decided to just run the gas out of the car before I changed the fuel filter plugs cap and rotor, I mean come on now the car had a full tank of fuel that was 5 years old and ran like a raped ape why mess with it lol. at idle the car held temp fine and driving down the road pretty much at 0 not so bad but not to good either. now we are pretty much caught up and back to the real story sorry folks . So I popped the hood right that’s where I was at. I look and locate the housing oh yes oh yes its the TPI 305 you guys getting where im going now? So after trying to remove the housing bolts (which can be done without removing the throttle body) I quickly realized the front bolt was frozen go go steel and aluminum not so much of a good thing. So now I had to remove the throttle body SOB, I removed it and now access to the bolt is clear of any obstructions. Now folks keep in mind that you should never ever ever try and get a frozen bolt out with much more then a 3/8 ratchet maybe a breaker bar if you know what you are doing. If you do well have fun with a broken bolt in your intake. At this point for the next 15 mins I shocked the bolt and worked her back and forth rinse and repeat. Its frustrating my temper is very short these days and then my pops showed up. So figuring this bolt was going to break I tell him hey break this bolt so I don’t have to true story. 30 mins later he says to me well ill be damned it didn’t break, now we are both polish and looked at each other and paused, if you have been in this position you know just what we were thinking lol. Now I go to put this thing back together and knowing better cracked the thermostat housing, look at this point I planned on being finished I had yet to eat breakfast and its starting to **** rain on me. Needless to say I went to auto-zone and asked if they carried it btw I hate that store around here people a trained chimp can do a better job then them. They had to order it its like 13 bucks through them and they would have it sometime tomorrow, not good enough for me so I then went to advance auto parts, now the same goes for this store but customer service is much better here or so it usually is. I said I need a thermostat housing for my car. Oh sorry sir but we do not have any access to that, what? Now after teaching them how to look things up on there computer since common sense is hard to come buy I ordered 2 of them for 11 bucks each, now here is the kicker I asked about the gaskets and the guy told me that he does not have any in stock and they are discontinued im like dude yes you do, look it up like this. He says im sorry but my computer limits me.......... nuff said that’s how my day went lol. So tomorrow morning I will be picking the housing up and putting the car back together.
