HELP!! Lower tranny cooling line twisting during removal!!
So i'm currently taking out my old radiator and putting in a new aluminum one. I got everything off already except for the lower tranny cooling line connecting to the radiator. I'm using a 13mm flare nut/crows foot wrench. It's grabbing the nut fine but as i turn to loosen the nut, the line is twisting. Already tried PB Blaster and after a couple days of letting that soak in, same results. The line is not twisted badly to where any flow would be affected. There is not much space there at all to try grabbing the line and spinning the nut at the same time. Now my question: --is there any alternative way to remove the line without damaging it or is there any way of just cutting the first 3-4 inches of the line and replacing just that section onto a new fitting into the radiator? Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance

you pretty much have your solution.just get a compression fitting and a section of new line to replace the frozen one and youre there. however ,I would recommend a tubing cutter,as a saw will introduce metal bits into your trans fluid

@rusty vango do you know what size the line is? 5/16"? And also the size of the fitting threading into the radiator? 1/4"?

if you re going to change the radiator, why not get a propane torch and some ice water ... get it hot, then pour the ice water on it a few times ... or some heat and some of this stuff may be better http://www.henkelna.com/loctite-freeze-release-7008.htm

Re: HELP!! Lower tranny cooling line twisting during removal!!
it is, but there is no need to get it that hot ... you just need to get it hot enough to expand the metal a little, then shrink it fast, to loosen the gunk and rust inside ... according to answers.com, the flash point of trans fluid is "Anywhere from 420 to 480 F depending on brand and makeup."
also, the fluid in the line will not ignite because there is no oxygen in the line to let it ... if you were to get a fire on the line from fluid on the outside, have a wet rag to put over it
