where do these heater hoses go??

I am attaching two pictures. I have a small looped hose that i believe connects the two fittings in the one picture together but in the pic showing the fitting from my water pump I just can figure out what hose and where it goes.. Its a 87 T/A with TPI. If anyone has a picture of theres it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: where do these heater hoses go??

The fitting in the water pump is connected to the suction side of the pump. It draws cooled water in from the heater core.

The one sticking out of the manifold is hot water exiting the engine. It brings the hot water to the other side of the heater core.

The one under the TB is the preheat for the TB. There should be 2 fittings under there, stock. If memory serves, the hot water comes out of the manifold, into the TB, out the other side of the TB, and onwards to the heater core. Cars with the oil warmer had that plumbed into the same fluid path.

Large fitting on the heater core hooks to the WP w a ¾" hose. Small heater core fitting hooks to the manifold w a 5/8" hose.

If there's already a ¾" line going from the heater to the cold tank of the radiator, just put a brass plug in the WP in place of that hose nipple.

Re: where do these heater hoses go??

In stock form, there is a "U" shaped hose that connects the manifold nipple to the front throttle body fitting. The passenger side TB fitting (#3 in image) goes to the heater core (hot).

Also, in stock form, the heater return goes to a fitting in the passenger side radiator tank (#7 in image). That water pump suction fitting is plugged. If you don't have the fitting on the radiator, the heater return can go to that water pump fitting.

Read this thread if you want to do the TB-heater-hose-bypass... Connect the intake manifold fitting to the heater core, instead of the U hose to the TB.
