Coolant sensor?? I Need some guidence
I have a 1987 GTA and the other day I took it out for a cruise and noticed my Temp gauge wasn't moving. I decided to pull over and check it out. The coolant fluid was Boiling in the reservoir and the engine was really hot. I was told to change the coolant sensor and flush out the coolant. I'm no mechanic but I am in the process of trying this. I followed the green wire on my 5.7 350 engine and took out the coolant sensor between two spark plugs ( at least I believe it is). Im trying to find a replacement, but every where I look online, it looks nothing like what I have??? how does the wire connect to this sensor?? Am I doing something wrong?? Can something else be the problem? The sensor has AC 12v written on it.

The OE one has that "mushroom" connector; but the plug that fits it, will also fit the one in your left pic. The right-hand pic is the one for the ECM, not the gauge.
AC refers of course to AC/Delco.

Depending on what your trying to accomplish here is what you have left side/drivers side has the coolant sensor that controls the gauge inside the car it has a blade style connection on the sensor on the passenger side head is the fan switch which tells the passenger fan to kick on it has a mushroom style connection on it both should be in stock at any local auto parts store I know I got both of mine from autozone and they were both in stock hope this helps .The sensor in you post the one on the left is correct replacement the one you removed is original more then likely.
