Wrong A/C Compressor?

I bought a new A/C compressor and tried to install it the other day but some things seem to be missing. My old compessor was a Harrison part number 1131743 and had two electrical connectors on front and back and o-rings embedded in the back. The new one I bought seems to be lacking the connector on the back (just a sealed off hole with no grommet or anything) and there are no o-rings embedded in the back. It's part number #60-00905 NA and I can't figure out what's going on. Am I mistaken or are there two types of compressors for our f bodies (R4 and LTR4)? Maybe I just got the wrong one? I'm confused, any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Seller I bought from on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/171022842698...84.m1497.l2649

Re: Wrong A/C Compressor?

The seals that go in the back are not part of the compressor; but they do usually come with new ones. Different compressors, and different line sets, use different ones, but there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to what cars got what version. You can just go to the store and get a set of those and pick out the ones that fit your combination of compressor and lines.

The thing in the back is the high-pressure cutoff safety switch. Take it out of your old one and move it over to the new one.

Re: Wrong A/C Compressor?

Okay well if getting a new set of o-rings was all I needed and this new one didn't come with any that's fine. But this high-pressure cutoff switch on the back, it just looks like a sealed off hole. You're sure I can just switch the old one over and it will work?

Yup...

It's held in with a snap ring.

Re: Wrong A/C Compressor?

Okay, I'll look into it. For my own piece of mind, I'll take a pic of this thing and post it on here and make sure I understand cause this thing is confusing me. Unlike my old Harrison one, the back of this new one has no grooves or indentions on the back for the new o-rings to recess, just flat. I mean, if it would still work without those that's fine, just sort of odd looking.

Re: Wrong A/C Compressor?

If you can see in the first pic I have attached there are no grooves for an o-ring to seal the back of the compressor. My concern at this point is how I am going to seal the compressor because it's pointless to fill the system with pag oil and freon if the thing won't seal properly and without those grooves (as they were on my old Harrison model) I am not entirely confident or sure it will work properly. If I could just figure this out I think I'll be good to go. Any thoughts guys?

Re: Wrong A/C Compressor?

Because (a) "O-rings" like you're apparently thinking of, don't go there; and (b) when you get the set of seal things that DO go there, you'll see that there's about 3 or 4 different thicknesses of them; and (c) it will become INSTANTLY OBVIOUS, one pair of them will fit what you've got perfectly.

The parts you need look rather like this. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...er=607242_0_0_

Re: Wrong A/C Compressor?

Man I love this site. Im going through the exact same thing right now as far as the seals goes. Was hoping to get it done today. Would have been on a vacuum now if it hadnt been for these seals.

Now just to find a part number or a place that has them. Hopefully somebody has them in stock. Its the only thing Im missing.

EDIT: OReilly's part # 24334 http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...1839&ppt=C0328
