fans wiring

hi new to forum. I got a 87 iroc just put motor in. last person had the car cut fan wires. I got it all wired up and everytime I put power ot ihe orange wire going to the relays my headlights lights come on they r dim but on .. now if I start I car cold lights wnt come on till fans kick on then they stay on till I cut car off any help would be welcome thanks

Sounds like you crossed a few wires. Get a haynes manual or download the wire diagrams, I think they had some hung on here somewhere, and start from the battery. One of the problems you may find is the wiring had a fault or other issue prior to being cut and now you have to deal with the original fault. Also get comfortable with a DMM, you will need it to diagnose the circuit.

I bought a 92 formula the other day that the fan wires were all spliced together at the relays. Figured out that the fans are wired to come on when you hit the brake pedal lmao.
