I recently bought a Champion 3 core aluminium radiator, my 5.7 seems to run a bit hotter than my 5.0 did, its fine when im on the move but sitting in traffic even with the fans on and it hovers around 220-230 and really struggles to come down at all ! new stock rad, new water pump, 180 t-stat etc etc
Anyway, i got the 3 core rad out of the box today to compare and the only difference i can see is that the port to plug in this sensor isnt there.
Is this going to be a problem and start throwing SES codes or anything ??? im just assuming its a temp sender that goes to the ECU or something ? i never had it on my old radiator on my 5.0, when i swapped to the 5.7 (still a TPI) it was part of the wiring harness, and i bought a new stock radiator and the port was there, however it wasnt on my old radiator.
that is just the low coolant level warning probe-your car probably does not have the rest of that system since your original radiator did not have the probe.
i swapped from a 5.0 tpi to a 5.7 and swapped the two harnesses too as their were some differences including this plus. the engine came from another 87 though.
So if this thing gets left unplugged im all good then ? happy days !
