'88 v6 - CEL code 14 (Coolant sensor High temp fault)

I just replaced my coolant sensor to see if that would fix my coolant gauge going all screwy and just deciding whatever temp it wants. Needless to say it was a lot more of a paint hat it should have been and it didn't even fix the problem, but now I have a new problem. the CEL is on and I am getting a high temp fault, any ideas on how to get rid of this?

And as far as I know I have plugged everything back in. Any help would be massively appreciated as my camaro is my daily driver.
