Heater core leaking

Axle/Gears: 2.73
Heater core leaking

So my heater core crapped out. Coolant all over the carpet. If I don't use the fan will it still leak? Its an 85 trans am. Want to just store it once returned from paint shop

it will continue to leak regardless if the hvac fan is on or off, what you can do is take the coolant lines running through the firewall and connect the two lines together with a coupler,

As TylerSteez mentioned, your core must be replaced or repaired. The original was made of brass. The replacements are made of aluminum. The hoses come from the water pump(supply) and the intake manifold(return). If you have the factory hoses, it can be a little difficult to put a coupler in where the two hoses enter the firewall. This is because there is a kink or jog in the one hose. Better to just remove them both and install a short length of heater hose between the two nipples (water pump and intake manifold). This way you can still drive the car.
