Re: Good Radiator Cap? Who makes one?

I have had good luck with delco caps. Although they maybe made in Canada or Mexico. If that's your only parts purchase you can lookup the part number on RockAuto.com and enter it into eBay. I would guess you would be in the $12-15 range.

Re: Good Radiator Cap? Who makes one?

If I can't find OEM, I go for Motorad caps/thermostats.

I seem to recall reading someplace that they make most of the caps/stats for the OEMs.

Re: Good Radiator Cap? Who makes one?

If you are not looking for OEM and want an easy cap to take off and put on, I suggest this brand. I always have a difficult time with the original caps, nothing to grip.

To take off, lift the handle and it turns very easy.

Doesnt need to be OEM, i tried that type years ago, worked well, but i always use to catch the lever when working on the eng. Finally swapped it, fearing i would pull it off while hot.

It is kinda funny how many different car companies try to get some form of "motor" in their name , another being Plymouth's "Mopar" (which I always took as a mishmash of "MOtor" and "PARts" although I'll bet Chrysler/Plymouth had a different take on the name) .

Re: Good Radiator Cap? Who makes one?

Off Topic:

Back in the early '70's there was a bunch of counterfeit Ford parts that were put into what was supposed to resemble their red streaked GT-40 Motorcraft boxes.

The counterfeit boxes had a red streaked 1/4 front view of what looked like a stationery '53 Corvette with the word "Motorcar" on the box.

I just acquired this assembly line correct Delco one. It wasn't $4.00 though haha. It'd be cool if you could find one of these too.

No doubt it really would have increased the coolness factor if it only had cost $4! Haha

I see them occasionally pop up on eBay. Just keep your eyes out and be prepared to pay more than any other radiator cap that is readily available for our cars.

I have the Delco service replacement cap on my TA now and it totally works well. I just am all about the details and I like how the car looked when it was new so I try to keep mine as authentic as possible.

I just bought this one. Very nicely made and strong plastic for the lever, unlike some others.
