Feeling stupid right now, 1991 Z28 L98, almost hit 240deg
Hey guys so long story short my cars previous owners hard wired the dual cooling fans to 2 toggle switches which after this stunt I'm gonna fix an rewire back to the car.
Anyways, drove around in the car always watching the temp, pull into my parking spot at home left the engine running stupidly to take a few pictures of the car an go back into her to shut it down an look at the temp an it's at nearly 240deg damnnnnn.
So anything to worry about? I'm a Lil freaked but do I need to worry about a head gasket or anything blowing up? Thinking of changing the oil also even tho it's not due just as precautionary.
Maybe just over thinking but damn I feel stupid

Nah, you're fine. My formula has been up there a few times on really hot days idling in a traffic jam.
I would only be worried if it was in the red and blowin steam.

In the stock single-fan cars (my 83 L69 for example) the fan DOESN'T EVEN COME ON until the temp reaches about 235°. IOW in the factory's opinion, not that they know anything about cars or anything like that but just as a point of reference, the engine DOESN'T NEED COOLING AT ALL until that temp.
240° on one occasion is fine. Nothing wrong with that.
But I agree, most attempts to "improve" the cooling systems of cars that owners put on them, are HORRIBLY unreliable, for whatever reason... not least because, as in your case, they often rely on the LEAST RELIABLE FEATURE the car is equipped with: the HUMAN BEING. I think doing away with all that crap the PO did and putting it back like it came, is about the smartest thing you can do to it.

Here's a schematic , you can use a temp switch or have the ecm control both fans or like factory a/c command and a fail safe temp switch for the secondary fan. Factory programming fan on at 226 degrees f.
