Do I need that second wire?

My Chevy Dealer's mechanic cut an AUX wire from my ECM to my (single) fan, and I'm wondering if i need it. Do 3rd gens (and my '91 in particular) have a circuit that keeps the fan on after ignition is turned off, if engine heats up after being turned off?

Re: Do I need that second wire?

Dont believe so, fan should only run when the key is on.If the fan is running when the ign is switched off the fan should stop.
