Temp Gauge Not fully working?

Hey, Guys I just got my very first car last Sunday, it's a 1991 Camaro z28. I had the car running for a bit and I noticed that Temperature Gauge was going up very very slowly almost not noticeable. Do you guys have any suggestions on a fix?

Re: Temp Gauge Not fully working?

Could be the temp sending unit failing, or temp gauge is failing. Not likely the gauge but rather the sending unit

Re: Temp Gauge Not fully working?

could be your thermostat is stuck open

One way to tell is once its hot....shut it down. Wait a min or tw then restart it ansd see how fast the gauge goes up.

If its fast then I'm guessing yor thermostat is open or missing

If its slow, it could be the gauge or sender... (the engine wil lstil lbe hot thus eliminating the posssibility of long engine heat up)

Re: Temp Gauge Not fully working?

Whup out yer handy-dandy temp gun such as this https://www.lowes.com/pd/IDEAL-ID-SG...B&gclsrc=aw.ds and see whether it's telling the truth or not.

Not much point in working on the gauge if the problem lies elsewhere.

Re: Temp Gauge Not fully working?

I have one of those temperature guns & have used it several times to check temp at the thermostat.
