Computer Swap ?s
So Im going to replace the stock ECM in my 89 IROC with an Electromotive TEC II to do all of my spark and fuel management. I want to retain my cruise control and converter lockup however and so Im not going to completely remove the stock ECM and Ill let it handle those tasks.
I figure that the cruise control will probably be taken care of without any interference from me as it should read the sensor in the speedo to determine speed and should be able to run the cruise from that.
For lockup, I'm assuming that it reads the speed sensor in the speedo and the status of the TPS to ensure that I'm not under heavy acceleration. If I splice that connector to feed both computers, it should allow me to retain lockup.
Anyone see any flaws in my plan? If Im just completely ignorant about the workings of the stock ECM, please let me know.
