Buy DFI or Burn my own chips?

Hi I am thinking about buying a DFI but I don't know a lot about it. I know many people that are great at getting them tuned so that is not a problem, I just don't know what to get. I was checking out the DFI 7 and that seems a little expensive. Is there something older on the market that still does a good job? Also how exactly do these systems work? Do they just replace my stock computer? Do I still use my stock wiring harness? Some prices would be great. I have searched but I cant find anything to answer my questions. Thanks

Go to google.com
Type in words like: electromotive, fuel air spark tech (fast), accel DFI, force-efi, haltech, motec, emi? (this is I think a big player in the rice market but they are getting into the v8 action also)
That should get you some good info. If not, buy some of the hi-tech magazines and read the ads. If what you want to do is prom burning for the stock ecm, just go to the diy prom section and READ the intro article and all the sticky posts first. Most often questions like "how do I get into prom burning?" are never answered but the askee is always directed to do the required reading of the intro article. Whatever you choose I would highly recommend learning how to tune it yourself. You would only be cheating yourself by not taking the time to do it.
