ECM difference?

Does anyone know if the ECM in a v8 automatic is different from the one in a v8 five speed? For the years 88-92.

I'm 95% sure they are the same thing...PROM's may be different, and will be different of course for different engines (say 5.0 TBI and 5.7 TPI), but the ECM is the same. I can't really think of a reason, off the top of my head, that the prom would be different either since the auto trans isn't controlled by the ECM for those years. Someone correct me if I'm wrong......it has happened before

89 is one model and then 90-92 is another ecm.
But they were not tranny specific.
If your talking TPI.

I have an 88 and have found out that that all the V8 cars use the same ECM. Even TBI and TPI. 89+ I know is different.
