i have a frankenstein tpi system - NEED HELP!

ok, i bought an 88 5.7 mas air tpi system off ebay, with harness, but no ecm, then i bought an 88 5.7 mas air ecm (i dont know serial #, as i did not ask, and have not actually recieved it yet) first question should i be ok so far? or do i have to have a specific serial #? second question i am putting this on a 350 in an S10, the chip in the ecm is for auto, i plan to use a t-5, i need to change chip/memcal correct? i have NO burnin skills or equipment, and although i want to learn, im not ready to buy all the equipment right now, so would i be best off just buying a stock memcal for a manual? and does it have to be from an 88 5.7 mas air system?

Yep, so far, so good. The ECM when it comes should have service number 1227165 or 16198259 on it. Using an auto MEMCAL on a stick car typically works. Most important is to make sure all sensors are hoooked up as the factory intended, including the VSS.

If you do end up buying a MEMCAL get one that as closely as possible matches the vehicle year & options.

It worked in my case for like a month sort of. the car idled crappy, was hard to start , and when you let off the accelerator in any gear the car would buck. It'll work, but you won't be happy with it probably.

You may get a trans related trouble code running an auto chip in a stick car. You also may not. My '86 threw one when I went from a 700R4 to a T56.

TPIS should be able to burn you a chip from a simple phone conversation, as should a lot of other shops. I got mine from TPIS and the car runs great.
