Gen 6 and Gen 3 Dist

Hello. I'm in the process of installing a single turbo SBC. I bought a package that included, and Gen 6 batch fire, and a MSD dist. I couldn't get a spark or ref. sig to ecm. I rewired the ecu 3 times via a pin a locator for the Gen 6 and MSD. to no avail. I finally got a hold of the original person who ran this set-up. He said he was running a dist. from an 87 TPI Camaro. I think that's why I wasn't getting a signal. I told him I was sent a MSD dist. #8366, he said that's not what I sold him, I sold him a stock dist, small cap, from a 87 TPI Camaro.

Has anyone hooked up a Gen 6 with a 3rd Gen dist(small cap)? Does anyone have a diagram of the dist. pin locator?

I've been searching your boards and haven't found it yet, so I thought I'd post, and then look somemore

Thanks, Paul

The Gen VI is going to need a ref Hi, ref Low, EST, and ground.

As long as you have those leads in a HEI format it should work, thou having wired it up wrong you may have already blown something inside.

I was afraid of that.... blowing something inside. The plug was the same, ans since the seller sent the MSD dist, I ASSUMED it was right. Maybe I should still try it, I pulled everything out, and I'm expecting my FAST at the end of the week. I would still like to know if the Gen 6 works though. decisions, decisions

Thanks fro the reply Grumpy
