Can I take the faster P4 from a 1994 tbi 5-speed truck and plug it in to my 1990 tbi 5-speed firebird?

Most likely. There are some threads on the DIY PROM board discussing just that. Off hand I can't remember the particular ECMs (2 IIRC) that are being used. There is some re-pinning of the harness to complete, and some re-tuning, but no show stoppers.

RBob.

That sounds good. Do you know if the manuals are like the automatics. I know the newer boxes for the ATs use larger plugs the the ones on thirdgens but have never seen the newer manual boxes to see if they made the switch too.

16197427 ($0D) (more popular)
16168625 ($E6)

Searches for the ECU part number on DIY PROM yield decent results. Google searches seem futile.

Having seen the $0D hack on moates' site (http://moates.net/fileman/) I can see why you'd want to go this route. I'll see what else I can dig up.

Pinouts at ftp://ftp.diy-efi.org/pub/gmecm/manuals/

16197427 == 4L60E (GM manual lists 16189375 and 16196395 as interchangable, also)
16171199 == 4L80E
16196396 == Manual

Connectors appear to be same for all 3, and judging by the pinouts the hardware is probably the same too, and the firmware cross-compatable.

Thanks for the info, I have taken a little time to look at it. Are all the ones mentioned above $0D? I have been working with it in my 7427 94 sonoma and that is about the limit of my tbi experience so far. Would be nice for me to just stay within a smaller realm of tuning. What time I have, I would like to apply to the $0D since I am off an running with it already.
