hey everyone, im an enthusiast with all cars and trucks. im in a particullar situation with a friend, he has a 92 camaro, with a 4.3 vortec v-6. he believes. and the car doesnt want to start, and runs like crap... i need to know where the ecu is, how to get codes(he has a 6 pin dls plug) and what the codes are or mean. if anyone could help id be so apreciatetive.... i mean its a friends car. he would be thankful too.


by the way this site is cool, i havent signed up till today and read some more. i still want a 69 ss 396 maro..... like my fathers, fully restored. what a muscle car. thanks again . dathan

If the car is stock it will have the 3.1l 60° V6. The ECM will be a 1227730 and is located under the dash above the passengers feet. Push the bottom of the ECM forward (it's velcro'd) and it will then drop out.

Codes can be retrieved by shorting pin A &B together on the ALDL connector. Then turn on the ignition, engine off, SES light will flash the codes. Check the tech writeups for codes and other information. LInks can be found on the left side of the home page.
