1226870 question

Well I've got this ECM and I was wondering if the chip in it can be pulled and programmed (eprom or just prom)? I just got a pocket programmer and they were all out of 2732 chips. It's not soldered in right? anyone know where to get an ECU/XDF file for $1F?

Tunercat has the only definition available for the $1F...
The chip is not soldered into the ecm..
The few I have seen have had PROM's installed, not EPROM's, so you'll need to find some 2732(A)'s

I am playing around right now with the prom in an '85 (vette, but the same $1F mask). Tunercat is the place to go for the mask and editing software. I found new 27C32 chips on Ebay.... from this guy:

The pocket programmer handles them OK and they work fine.

I just got some yesterday and had them shipped next day. They just swap out in the ECM right?

Almost. The chip snaps into a holder thing, the holder is necessary for the chip to fit into the socket in the ECM. The chip has to come Out of the holder to fit into the socket on the programmer. I have been carefully bending the legs on one side of the chip to get it out of the holder (I don't know of a better way...). A New chip will just snap into the empty holder and be ready to go. I also have not found a source for new holders.... GM has a part number that Might be right - my local Chevy store is getting me one to see.

well now I have everything except the 1F .tdf definition file for tunercat. I already sent the money for it via paypal, but they won't be back till monday and I was wondering if anyone who had this file could sent it to me via email ( email ). I would be very greatful and any other circumstance I probably wouldn't ask for it. I have court monday and as of now I really don't have a way there and back so I'm kinda in a pinch. I pulled the chip from my 6870 ecm and found that it was one of the many things the previous user did to upgrade it. It had an AOS super chip in it and I've already made a copy of it and erased the chip (it was a 2732A and luckily it had a window because the other chips I ordered didn't come in and they were supposed to be sent next day mail on thursday).
