i found this today and it has me seriuosly reconsidering my setup. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Anodi...QQcmdZViewItem
i am trying to figure out what to run now too, m/s , the moates all in one, and the moates burn1 are very near in price and all have their pluses. but now with this development in a built and readily available m/s seems to be the way to go.
my original plan was a m/all in one so that i could do friends/others cars and practice maybe make a little cash.
then i found out about the burn 1, im still unsure of exactly how it differs from the aio other than $$
i had originaly passed on the m/s because of my feable solidering skills and tendecy to fawk things up. but this changes every thing.

Because with the Megasquirt system its just as cheap as buying the hardware to burn your own chip.Originally posted by 89 Iroc Z

It can change your MAF car over to Speed Density and also has the calibration potential for adding 30 PSI of boost with any size fuel injector...
The Megasquirt will only run your engine. It will need a mod to control the lockup on your 700r4. (or you need a setup like the carb guys use with the 700r4). If there are other functions your ECM controls, you'll need to keep it for that (gauges, cruise control, etc -- just guessing here)
But for running the engine, it works very, very well. I use one for running the 406 in my Chevelle. I'm only controlling fuel right now, but MS with the MSnS-Extra code or MS-II add-on processor can control spark too.

Keep in mind, MS is meant, partially, to be an educational project that will require time and learning on your part. Building the MS is not nearly as difficult as you'd think. If you have a steady hand, you can do it. I had never done any soldering before I built mine. I used the cheapest of the cheap soldering irons from Radio Shack. The build instructions are *excellent* and will show you how to test each section of the build so that you don't get to step 99 and realize you made a mistake on step 5.
Whether you get a pre-assembled unit or not, get the stimulator. It'll allow you to play with the MS and MegaSquirt tuning software on the bench.

Thanks Dave.
The MS seems like a bargain and user friendly I plan on going that route soon.
Have any pics of your Chevelle ??
Check my rides..

im looking at running a ms II on my car. i read that you can use a msd 6a, and thats not a prob, i already have a 6al. but what should i do about a distributor? i know 7 and 8 pin are supported, but doesnt look like the stock (for our cars) 5 pin is. could i use a dual sync like some other dfi setups use or what? or does it even matter as long as the 6al is hooked up to my 5 pin?
