vortec obd2 computer

I am dealing with a 91 z28 and was woundering is it worth while to upgrade the computer and harness to a vortec truck computer. pretty much changing over from a sd obd1 system to an mass air obd2 type of system. Would there be any benifits, how much trouble would it really be, would it be less of a hassel to tune?

Vortec PCMs are Central Port Injected. Nothing like a MPFI system. It will not work. Maybe if you change the intake over. Then you'll also need a CPI fuel pump and distributor. I wouldn't suggest that though. IMO, CPI is a very horrible form of fuel injection and is prone to failure.

I did not evern realize that Vortec engines are Central Port Injected. I dont want to change the intake over i was just looking for a way to make my computer a little smarter and hopefully run a little better. Are there any other MPFI OB2 style systems that I could upgrade to?

Thanks for the help
