Car: 91 Firebird

She won`t talk to scanner...

I just bought a 91 firebird last week, tried to scan for trouble codes but kept getting " vehicle not responding " I have an " Auto-Xray" ( don`t know the m# off hand) but it always works on my 85 bird and my OSB2 cars fine. Is it possible a GM dealer may have locked access to the computer ? If so how do i unlock it?
I just won a `91 factory service manual on ebay, but until it gets here i`m kinda in the dark !

my car does this too on the autoxray... have no clue how in the hell to fix it... but every once in a while it will respond... i think it is the connector ground problem...
