drp occured
I have a 89 iroc with tpi. I am trying to make sure I have the right engine in it. When I bought it, it had numerous sensors unplugged and the front engine accesories were not fully attached. The car should be the l98 which numerous people say should be 14.8 quarter. I am getting 15.4 with what I think is a stock engine, minus the underdrive pulleys, and screenless MAF. The head casting number is 14102193 which comes back as a tbi head. Were these ever put on TPI cars? What should the casting number be? I also get some flags when I use winaldl. DRP occured. EECC rich lean. And the closed loop flag comes and goes. I am new to this site, and could not figure get any information. My BLMs are all in check. My o2 readings are between .2 AND .8. They are mostly hovering around .5. The .8 is only when the hammer is down. Any help would be appreciated. No check engine or codes

There are a bunch of ways to tell what engine is in the vehicle. First thing is to check the 8th character of the VIN. This will tell you what was originally in the vehicle:
8 = 350 TPI
F = 305 TPI
E = 305 TBI
To go further look at the driver rear of the block at the bell housing mount. The block size is cast in as such:
5.7L or 5.0L
Under the alternator on the pass side of the block are the engine codes and VIN. From these can tell what the engine was originally in, the size, and if it is the original.
The heads could have been swapped on at some point. Or, could be the originals.
As for the drp flag, that is showing that distributor reference pulses are being received.

Thanks for the reply. I found that the block said 5.7L which is correct. The 8th digit of the vin is why I bought the the car, I wanted the L89 engine code. To compete in the next money class at my local drag strip the person has to break 14 seconds. Reading other posts on this site, I thought it would be easy to do with bolt ons. My best slip to date is 15.44. DRP Reference pulse. That is a good thing, I did not even think that it could be. I just assumed all flag data would be bad. Any guess as to what eecc slow 02 rich/lean means. This flag does not sound good for sure. I did not replace the o2 because I thought it might have been caused by the drp. Now that I know it is not I will throw one on and see what happens.
