Help fast, stock computer removal??
Help fast, stock computer removal??
My car ( 1992 z28 ) has an aftermarket accel computer in it with a whole new wiring harness, but my stock computer is still in there as well connected to the stock harnes that's not doing a whole lot other than taking up space it looks like. Does the stock computer have any part in controlling my interior lights, windows, mirrors, cluster and so on? I saw there are 3 plugs that go into the stock computer. If I remember right 2 of them were black plugs and the 3rd plug was spaced a little further away and was blue if I remember right. Is that 3rd plug for all my interior / body controls ... or are those all on a seperate module? Can I unhook the other 2 plugs and not have any other problems? I'm also assuming I can remove the passkey module since my accel computer / harness all take care of my ignition and fuel management? I have the dash out of the car right now and I'm trying to clean it all up so now is the time to remove what I can so fast help is appreciated. I'd like to put it back in tomorrow and get ready for this weekend. Thanks!

I could be that the stock ECM still control some things like fans/AIR/CC and so on, it depends on how the accel DFI system is intalled.
Try unplugg the stock ECM.....
Do a seach for 730wiring schematics and you can easily see whats connected to the stock ECM......

No; power windows, mirrors, seats, and lights are all very basic circuits. No computer involved. I'm faily certain the climate control isn't affected by the computer either, nor the radio. However, some of the guage cluster might be routed through that ECM. Do what gta324 said and unplug it and see what happens.
