Questions about my ECM and CFI
Hey everybody, I'm new to this board and I have a few questions about my '83 Z28 and its ECM.
I bought an '83 Z28 with a 305 cu in. engine from my neighbor about a year ago. The car's only got 72,000 original miles on it and it's a pretty sweet ride. It's got crossfire injection with an AIR emissions control system in it. I've heard both good and bad things about the CFI. I'm trying to keep the car as original as possible, so I don't want to get rid of the crossfire and the air induc hood if I can help it. If someone could shed more light on what is wrong with crossfire I would really appreciate it. So far I haven't had any problems *knock on wood*
I'd also like to know about replacing my 305 with a 350. Can anyone please tell me if I will have to change anything on the ECM to run the 350? My Dad thinks it will be fine because its still a small block chevy but I want to make sure. Also I'd like to know if removing the AIR system will effect the ECM in anyway.
Sorry about the long post and thanks for any info you can give me.

Re: Questions about my ECM and CFI
you will "possibly" need an upgraded fuel pump. you will need to up the fuel pressure so that the engine sees the equivilent of 13 lbs FP with 65 lbs injectors(vette CF #'s)). you will need a new chip that knows you have a 350cid motor running at higher FP with stock injectors. The ECU you have I dont believe is supported by any tuning programs to allow changes in your .bin. maybe someone knows for sure? I say unlikely. In that case you will need a differrent ECU that is hacked along with an adapted pigtail for the newer replacement ECU(7747/8746/other). My "adapted" is actually an adapted ECU board to mate with stock wire harness.

Just change the chip to the 350 one as long as you keep a similar cam to what the 350 Crossfires came with stock. Replace the fuel pump with one from an '85 Vette as well.
