Is this a bad ECM or what????

Hi,
I have a '92 RS 3.1...When I start the car cold it will start fine and run for about 10 minutes then start idling rough then shut down. When I try to restart ,it will hit but not start. Also at this point evrything under the hood will click...EGR,IAC,all Relays on the drivers side and the fan spins with each click. And when it does this I am not able to check for any codes in the ECM...AND!! once today when I just turned the key to the on position it went into dianostic mode itself then just started clicking like always...Thanks for any help here...

Re: Is this a bad ECM or what????

Hey,
I'll just help myself here...Maybe what I did will help someone else out.I talked to a dealer and the first word out of his mouth was "bad ecm".Pull it out ,start the car wait a few minutes and slap it...see what happens..well...Nothing happened...but..i did remove and replace the prom...disconnected the battery and reset the computer..and so far it is running fine...I just have tap the gas a couple of times to get it to start after it sets for a couple of hours...hope that was all it was...!!....

The '7730 ECMs are rarely flaky, now the '165 ECMs. . .

Check the ground connections on the engine. Both the ECM harness and battery cable connection. Sometimes the bolts come loose. ECM grounds are on the back of the passenger side cylinder head.
