okay, so I've got an 86' berlinetta 305 block that is currently carbed. I have a 350 from an 88(or 89 I can't recall right now) cheyenne. I also have the brain and harness from this beast. my question is, what do I have to expect to be doing to make this rig run? any help would really mean a lot to me right now. thanks, eddie.

edit: okay, my question is more like "Will the ecms just swap in? do i need just the prom? will the stuff coming from the interior of the car need to be changed in any way to hook up with a different ecm?" I thought I'd add that stuff because my question sounded more like a motor to motor swap question and not so much an ecm related question. thanks!

Re: wondering what to expect from a swap
Wasn't the '88 or '89 Cheyenne motor a TBI from the factory? I believe it is. The ECM from the Cheyenne motor will be for a TBI setup. It won't interchange with the carb'd (CCC) ECM.

If you are staying with the CCC carb the 350 will run OK. If anything it may ping a bit with the stock 305 timing.

If you go with the TBI set up then you can swap in the harness and ECM together with the motor. There will be some areas that you will need to figure out. Such as getting rid of the lamp driver (for the SES), ALDL and VSS connections and so on. I doubt that they will be plug matching between the two vehicles.
