little help

Wondering if someone can help me, ive searched but cant seem to find my answers. Ive got a 88 305 tpi originally, 91 350 is on its way in as we speak. Im just lacking fuel injection. Can i put a '90 tpi on it, an just change proms, or is it going to be more than that. Or should I just wait and try to find a maf tpi, 88 or 89 year. Thanks

Re: little help

Just to be sure I understand, you have a '88 car that was TPI. But now no engine or EFI setup on it.

You are putting a '91 350 into this vehicle, and need a TPI setup.

You still have the '88 ECM in place.

OK, can use an '87 through '92 TPI setup on top. From an f-body, not a y-body). The main difference is that in '89 the cold start injector was dropped.

So, you can use an '89 calibration for any of the setups. Disable the cold start injector on an earlier system.

Note that an '89 calibration has VATs enabled. Your '88 doesn't have it so that would need to be disabled in the PROM. Otherwise the engine won't start (or get a VATs bypass module).

If you get an '87 or '88 TPI setp, it is a bolt on and go.

Note that the 350 requires 22 #/hr injectors. Along with the correct calibration for it.

Re: little help

yes thats pretty much the deal. so any tpi will work, just have to disable the vats and possibly the 9th injector. what about ecm/ecu and prom. are these the same things or different parts. Im assuming i can just change out proms to a 350 and be good to go. Thanks for your time.

Re: little help

ECM is the same, the '7165. For an '89 L98 calibration (auto) it is AUJM. No stick calibrations available.
