newbie ecm question

newbie ecm question

Hi excuse the newbie question but i read i another post its possible to find codes by crossing 2 wires, without a reader? Is there a sticky on this? Thanks for the help.

I thought that there was a tech article on this but can't find it.

What you do is to short together pins A & B on the ALDL connector. Then key-on, engine-off. The SES light will blink out the codes. Code 12 will be the first and is always present. It is then followed by any other stored codes.

yep rbob is right all i did was get a paper clip and fold it in half and
whit the car off stick it in the first 2 squares from the left on the top row on the aldl connector the turn the key to run the the code will flash ! i think the senquance starts with 12 flashin 3 time then the ese code good luck !
