bad spark plug wire

When i was checking the timming on my 87 iroc. I noticed that the light wasnt flashing on my timing light. It was hooked to battery and clamped on the number one spark plug wire. But if i moved the clamp closer to the distribtor it works fine. Is this a sign that i have a bad spark plug wire? or timming gun?

The car has been running a bit sluggesh latly

Re: bad spark plug wire

it could be. grab a multimeter and check for continuity or resistance, should get you started in the right direction.
