How to properly install PROM chip?

How to properly install PROM chip?

Okay, so i dropped down my computer from underneath the glove box. I have an 87 Trans AM so in the computer there is this middle bracket that i removed. Inside in a brown bar covered by a baby blue cover. I really dont know how to install it or where exactly does it go...? yes, im a noob so please bare with me..

Either:

Remove the chip from the MEMCAL and solder in new chip.

Remove chip from MEMCAL and solder in a socket, insert new chip into socket.

Go to www.moates.net and get a G1 adapter. Plug MEMCAL into adapter, PROM into adapter, then adapter into ECM.
