91 GTA SLP Prom

I have a 91 GTA with the dealer installed SLP options. The car has always had a miss in it and has never felt 'right' to me compared to my other GTAs. Sluggish through the power band. I have checked everything (fuel system, electrical, ignition and motor is strong) and replaced a few items in an attempt to fix it. Last summer I spent a lot of time asking some very knowledgeable members questions and following advice. Car still doesn't seem right.

I am wondering if it could be the SLP PROM sucks, I haven't heard anything about SLP Proms being good. All of the things I have heard have been bad. So, what makes them bad? I would have put the original Prom in it if I would have had one. I am wondering if that fixes the problem. Thoughts?

Thanks, Aaron

Over time a eprom can lose data or bit flip. The only way to see whats going on is compare the slp .bin file to a stock .bin

Thanks for the responses. You guys are talking languages that I don't understand...HA.

I think I am just going to put a stock chip in it and see what happens. I am sure I can find one cheap on the board.

Why does everyone not like the SLP Chips? Were they worse than stock or something?

Re: 91 GTA SLP Prom

For the most part SLPs chips sucked. I've had 3 cars with that chip, my cars went faster with the stock chip. Put in a stock one and you'll be happier.
Also OHM check your Injectors cold and hot.

Re: 91 GTA SLP Prom

Replaced the injectors last summer. And the new ones check good. As mentioned previously, I have done all the mechanical checks and I can't find a reason for why this car is sluggish.

Did SLP make changes in the timing or what that makes these chips bad? Everyone is saying they are bad, but I haven't heard why, specific reasons.

A couple guys have PM me, and I am thinking over what they have said. Thanks for the update.

Re: 91 GTA SLP Prom

Well, prolly for the reasons like "it feels sluggish" "car was slower at the track" and one of mine had a fuel cutoff/rev limiter in it.
What they changed to make them run worse I don't know.
It only matters that they do run worse.
I have even driven 3 91-2 Hawks with the SLP tunes.. They drove like crapola. I think over half have been retuned because they sucked and the other half just don't get driven enuff to notice or they don't know any better.
