I have an opportunity to buy an accel ECM 74040a. I can't find the accel dfi site anymore, and can't get the information I need..

I have an 88 Formula tpi. I'd like an ECM that's programable and plugs into the factory harness and works with the factory sensors.. The ad where I found this ECM says it fits 80s corvette, camaro and gran nationals etc..

Will this ECM plug into my car? And what would I need to program this? Cables? Keys? Proms? Anybody know what generation this is and what are the pros and cons? Thx

 

That's an old unit...you would probably be better off with what you have. I am not sure if it will plug right into your harness though...I would guess its unlikely. It might be hard to find any wiring info on it since it is so old too.

 

Silver casing?
If so then that's a Gen 6, older stuff. You need to run it in Doss, not Windows.

However there are still some guys who swear by those
If you really want the most tunable, use the newer stuff.
