Conditions for Code 44 Met, But Code Not Set. Say Whaaa?

Ahoy.

I'm trying to pass emissions. If you want, you can see my thread over in the Tech/General board here. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tech...emissions.html

I've got one specific question right now, however. I did a test while at 0mph and RPMs steady at about 2000. Using WinALDL, I logged the data. The 02 sensor reads 0.031-0.035V and didn't change for 61s. I'm sure the readings would stay the same if I did the test longer. The engine stayed in closed loop. No error codes were set and the SES light did not illuminate.

According to the manual, Code 44 is supposed to set when the 02 reading remains below 0.250V for 50s and the system is in closed loop.

So what gives?

02 sensor is new, btw.

Would an exhaust leak cause the reading to be so low?

Thanks.

yes ,exhaust leaks play hell with O2 sensor readings. fix that and you will be way ahead.

Alrighty. I shall go on the hunt.

Any insight as to why Code 44 was not set?
